We perform asset valuations for our clients, drawing on our capabilities in market forecasting, financial modeling, and our understanding of the management and operation of power plants and energy delivery.

La Capra has been retained by project owners, taxing authorities, current and prospective investors, and consumer groups to apply its market and regulatory knowledge in valuing generating and distribution assets. These valuations have included both assets under more traditional regulatory environments, and, increasingly, assets that are valued solely by the power markets.

Generating Station Tax Proceedings
We have been retained by both municipalities and plant owners to help determine appropriate assessed values for specific generating stations. Our primary role has been to develop valuation inputs based on our energy market models and our knowledge of plant and regional market operating characteristics. We provide on-going analytical support to our clients in these cases as needed.

Valuations of Various Generating Assets for Investors
We have assisted a number of power generating companies and prospective investors in the valuation of fossil, hydro-electric and gas-fired generating stations. Our work has included the design of appropriate scenarios for assessment of key risks and the use of our regional market model to forecast production and revenue under each scenario. Our final work product is often a financial model that serves as the basis for valuation as well as an analysis of potential variances in asset valuation and future profitability.
